Camping at Vlietland

Your day will probably start by peacefully waking up by the singing birds. After a refreshing swim in the lake you will be ready for the day. While overlooking the harbour in front of your van you’ll decide what to do. Will you be biking to one of the historic and cultural cities nearby like Leiden, The Hague or Delft? Go to the seaside? Or will you go a bit further by car or public transport? Then you could be walking in the streets of Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Utrecht within an hour.

Recreation area Vlietland

The campsite is located in the midst of natural recreation area called ‘Vlietland’. Known as the Riviera of the ‘Randstad’ (dutch urban area). There are two sandbeaches and one naturist beach around the lake. The quality of the water is above average thanks to a special bubbling filter system.

Besides swimming, you can enjoy the place by hiking, cycling or sailing. By boat you can go to the canals of Leiden or even further. There is a tree climbing island and in summertime even an aquapark in the water. To end your day you can go out for dinner with a beautifull view over the lake at the restaurant Waterfront.

A very nice small campsite 😍 Great location right on the lake, clean sanitary facilities, washing machine and dryer also available, supermarket is nearby, the picturesque town of Leiden can be reached quickly by bike and the surrounding area is also ideal for exploring by bike. Gladly again 👍🏻

Small but great campsite. Slept on the 'tractors field' in August with a mini-tent, with a 6-year-old daughter. Very nice. Everything neatly maintained, soft grass, not too busy, plenty of space, we were fed up with the blackberries all around. Everything located right on the lake, swimming beach at 200 meters. Super nice staff. Other guests: 'only decent people' (as far as I could see) (and could understand German). I can't judge price-quality ratio (because I rarely camp), but seemed reasonable to me. WIFI only at the bathing area (there was a row of slow teenagers there). But that's the only thing that could be better. We'll be back for sure.

Campsite in a great location with friendly staff. Sanitation is clean and functional. Could do with more toilets and more dishwashing stations as they get very busy at peak times. Bike hire is easy and affordable. Electric bikes are very good!

We spent 8 nights on site and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and helpful and provided print outs of maps to grocery store. The facilities were clean and tidy and we soon worked out the best time to go for a shower to avoid any queues.Had lovely walks around Vlietland, swimming in the lakes and many cycling trips to the coast, Leiden, The Hague etc. Have recommended the site to a couple of friends and would definitely return.

Stayed twice during our travels. And twice changed the number of days we stayed. Staff extremely helpful including assisting with changes. Lovely setting on the lake. Nice walk or bike ride into town. Lovely restaurants and bars in town. Hire a boat and see the lake and surrounding area. Nice Restaurant next door. Thanks again for all your help.

Delightful site on shore of lake. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff . Facilities very good and clean but could be overstretched in high season . Accessing the lovely interesting town of Leiden by bike is manageable, but without one it involves a good 20 min walk to get a bus. Having no food shops within easy reach could be a problem. A lovely site which we could highly recommend as long as the above provisos are borne in mind.
